Committee member and coordinator, Judge Iman Shahhoud from the Sweden branch, conducted an awareness session titled ‘The Power of Positive Thinking.’ She presented it to a group of women from various Arab countries residing in the city of Kristianstad, with the attendance of committee member and coordinator Hiam Al-Sherout from Norway.
Shahhoud spoke about organising our conscious lives and viewing them positively, and how we can develop ourselves by making sound decisions and finding solutions that nurture our thoughts to face challenges. She also emphasised the importance of making bold decisions, such as overcoming the fear of society or dealing with psychological states in the event of failure. She encouraged overcoming inherited negative beliefs in our subconscious mind and focusing on achieving inner peace by surrounding ourselves with people who provide us with positive energy.
The women agreed that the session was unique and essential, reinforcing the idea of self-reliance and fostering a spirit of confidence among them to establish their presence in the new society and adapt to it.
The session included a remarkable discussion among the attendees, where they shared their experiences and how they overcame the obstacles they faced in the new society, especially those related to learning a new language. They exchanged stories about finding a foothold to assert themselves, changing their location, and overcoming some old ideas that caused difficulties, even from relatives, who saw them as contrary to the customs and traditions they were raised on. For example, one woman shared her remarkable experience as a truck driver and the criticisms she initially received, even from her children. Ouras from Iraq shared her experience as a single mother in Sweden, how she studied psychology, and confidently worked in her field after overcoming the fears she had developed in Iraq.
Then Samar Jalal Mahouq spoke about translating the book ‘The Psychological Causes Behind Physical Illnesses’ by the German doctor and author Ryke Geerd Hamer, in which he shares his personal experience with his wife after the loss of their son. She also shared her experiences of successful treatments, drawing from this science, which is still considered new in the world.
The women unanimously agreed that the meeting was unique and essential, emphasising the concept of self-reliance and instilling a spirit of confidence among them to assert their presence in the new society and adapt to it.
