Syria Gender Advocacy Group (GAG) is holding a side event in Brussels.

n the run up of the VIII Brussels Conference on the future of Syria and the Region, EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI), Syria Gender Advocacy Group (GAG) and Musawa will hold a Side event. It is organised in the framework of the program “Implementing the Common Agenda to Combat violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and promote inclusive peace building processes in Syria” (2022- 2025) funded by the European Union and implemented by EuroMed Feminist Initiative with Syrian partners Musawa, Dawlati and Zoom In.

The side event will discuss mechanisms addressing and combating all forms of VAWG highlighted by women and feminist organizations in the specific context of early recovery in Syria. It will unfold the main needs and gaps in addressing VAWG, including the current food insecurity, while highlighting concrete recommendations to improve the range and quality of services for victims of VAWG. The discussion will specifically spotlight recommendations originating from the report on services for victims of VAWG in Syria and the study “Violence against women and girls in Syria: Laws, knowledge awareness, attitudes” both conducted during the second half of 2023 in the frame of the same project.

The side event will take place on 29 April 2024 at 11:00 am CET in The Netherlands III Conference Room at Thon Hotel- Rue de la Loi 75, Brussels.
