Women for Peace

Who we are:

Women for Peace (W4P) is a local non-governmental non-profit organization based in Syria, headquartered in the city of Raqqa. Our mission is to enhance leadership and capacity-building for women and young people, raise awareness about gender-based violence, prevent extremism, and facilitate dialogue among different societal groups and generations. Our ultimate goal is to foster a community of citizenship characterised by peace and mutual trust.

Women for Peace focuses on various issues, including women’s empowerment, citizenship, and societal development in all its dimensions. We strive to develop all components of society, particularly women and youth, and promote their participation in addressing societal issues at all levels. Through our interventions, we aim to achieve social, economic, and cultural change by collaborating with organizations, institutions, and key stakeholders within systemic frameworks to advance community development.

Since our establishment, we have successfully implemented 20 projects across 12 regions in northeastern Syria.

What we do:

Women for Peace is actively engaged in implementing various community-oriented projects and activities that directly impact the local population in the region. These initiatives primarily focus on women, young people, marginalised groups, and all sectors of society that are influenced by or contribute to them. Our activities fall within three main programmes aimed at advancing our organisational vision:

  • Protection: We strive to create a safe and conducive environment for women and marginalized groups in society, fostering the conditions necessary for a harmonious community.
  • Empowerment: We work towards enhancing the resilience of women and marginalised groups during crises by empowering them economically and providing support through expertise and skills development.
  • Participation: Our efforts are dedicated to strengthening the capacity of women and marginalised groups to actively participate in decision-making processes, ensuring their voices are heard and valued.
