Psychosocial Support Sessions / Amal Healing and Advocacy Center

On August 9th and 10th, 2023, three sessions of psychological and social support were organised as part of the “Our Voices” project. These sessions were attended by women from the families of the missing and detained individuals. The psychological specialist, Ayah Iskif Oglu, facilitated the sessions, and they were presented by Dr. Mohammed Abu Hilal.

Session Objectives:

  1. Define the concept of mental health and its importance in society, raising awareness among people about seeking psychological services.
  2. Differentiate between traumas, psychological pressures, and post-earthquake syndrome symptoms.
  3. Identify negative and positive coping strategies.
  4. Understand the mechanism of providing psychological support to children in crisis situations, loss, and bereavement.

At the end of the sessions, the participants expressed their gratitude and satisfaction. They appreciated the safe space provided, which offered them a sense of tranquility, psychological and moral support. They also mentioned gaining valuable information that increased their self-awareness and improved their quality of life.
