MAUJ for Development Foundation

Who we are:

We started our activities in 2014 under the name “Radio Souriyat” as a developmental media initiative that utilises modern media platforms to serve as a platform for women in Syria. We aim to amplify their voices and work on addressing the challenging issues they face. The organisation was legally established within Syria under the name “Mauj” at the end of June 2020 as a local civil non-profit institution. Mauj is guided by feminist principles and non-discrimination, and operates collaboratively to address societal and developmental issues, linking them to media content that is rooted in reality and strives to create transformative change.

What we do:

We operates through four strategic programmes:

  • Support for Pluralism and Social Cohesion: This programme aims to contribute to building civic awareness among individuals and communities, transitioning from a state of closure and division to a society that upholds all freedoms and respects the values of diversity and differences.
  • Enhancing Women’s Participation in Public Life: This programme supports women in their pursuit of liberation from all forms of injustice, discrimination, and marginalisation. It works with all segments of society, including women, men, and youth, at all levels to achieve the goals and objectives of equality, prevention, protection, and participation.
  • Gender-Sensitive Adoption and Production: This programme focuses on creating and producing interactive media content that stems from reality and seeks to create a state of change. It utilises a variety of tools, templates, and channels to produce and disseminate media materials related to development issues and the direct objectives of the organisation’s other programmes.
  • Sustainability of Available Resources: This programme aims to enhance sustainable strategies and practices by focusing on the management of financial, human, social, and institutional resources while preserving them. This is achieved through research, training, and development mechanisms, as well as providing consultative solutions within the scope of the organisation’s expertise. It also involves cooperation, networking, and coordination with teams and civil institutions working on advocacy and community mobilisation issues, aligning their work with the values of the organisation.
