Amal is in Toronto, searching for her mother.

After a long journey that included 13 countries, Amal, the Syrian girl, arrived in Toronto in search of her mother. Sabbara, the organisation, was part of this wonderful event to support Amal and every Syrian child affected by war, as well as every child in the world deprived of safety by war. Sabbara’s gift for Amal is a large quilt made with love by Syrian refugee mothers in Canada, bringing them together with a shared homeland, dream, and hopes.

In a beautiful and warm gathering, Sabbara women showcased the artwork that took them months to weave—a patchwork quilt made from fabric remnants that tells many stories and carries the idea that the warmth in our hearts can warm any child who feels cold. Sabbara also presented another artistic display of children’s clothes donated for support, where the clothes were hung with children’s names on clotheslines, each representing a child’s story and journey in search of love and warmth.
